On the Hill: Closing day at Mt. Hood

On the Hill Summer, brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, brings you a video report about a different High Country adventure every weekday.

Today's activity: Closing down Mt. Hood

Details: In Mt. Hood, Oregon, the Timberline Lodge resort offers skiing on their Palmer Glacier 12 months of the year. The resort's Labor Day "closing day" was Monday, although closing day for Mt. Hood just means a 6-week hiatius. Snowriders from all over North America come out to celebrate the sport they love in its most unusual setting: Summer.

Today's weather: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. — National Weather Service
