Vail Daily letter: Janssen for fire board
May 5, 2014
My name is Justin Ayer and I am a property owner in Avon and a Firefighter since 2002. I am also a member or the Eagle River Professional Firefighter's Association.
I would like to take this opportunity to clarify a few points in regards to the association's endorsement of incumbent candidate Clint Janssen to Eagle River Fire's board Of directors. Recently, a few letters have been written to the Vail Daily in support of his opposition and attempted to cast doubt on Mr. Janssen on the basis of his endorsement by the association. To be clear, Mr. Janssen never sought endorsement by the association. The association submitted candidate questionnaires to all candidates, as with every board of directors election, to understand their stance on important issues with the fire district. Mr. Janssen was chosen by the association based on the strength of his responses and understanding of the issues. As an incumbent, the association appreciates Mr. Janssen's experience with the fire district and supports his continued service on the board. We appreciate that he understands the operation of the fire district and has established relationships with the administration, other board members and partner agencies. Please join the firefighters of Eagle River in support of Clint Janssen on May 6. Thank you.
