Vail Daily letter: Jazz success
September 12, 2013
Together with the board of directors of the Vail Jazz Foundation, I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who played a role in making the 19th annual Vail Jazz Festival such a tremendous success. On June 23, we embarked upon our most ambitious season yet, presenting 40 performances and three educational programs over a 12-week period, culminating with our grand finale, the Vail Jazz Party, over the Labor Day weekend. Performances this summer were once again met with extremely enthusiastic audiences and record attendance.
Thank you to our donors, staff, dedicated volunteers, performers, students and instructors and most of all, the audiences which witnessed the magic of jazz in multiple venues in Vail throughout the summer. A special thank you to the Lionshead business community for supporting the festival's commitment to presenting world-class entertainment in the unique and inviting venue of Vail Square in the heart of Lionshead.
We are deeply indebted to Howard and Cathy Stone, who created the festival 19 years ago and have fostered its growth, now making the Vail Jazz Festival a significant contributor to Vail's summer and to their perseverance for developing our three signature educational programs, now known as the pre-eminent jazz education programs in the United States. Next year marks our 20th anniversary festival, and I can assure you that you will be amazed and impressed with what we have in store!
