Vail Daily letter: Thank you
October 2, 2013
Eagle Valley Middle School would like to express a huge thank you to the Education Foundation of Eagle County, our PTO members and our community who so generously donated to our school. Community members donated more than $11,000 to EFEC in support of Eagle Valley Middle School. EFEC awarded us a direct grant, which in combination with a contribution from our PTO, allowed us to hire a part time school counselor for the 2013-14 school year. We are very excited to have this incredibly important position filled.
School counselors are especially important at the middle level when students are experiencing great changes as they move from childhood to adolescence. Our school counselor will be working directly with kids one-on-one, in group settings, as a teacher presenting maturation and conflict resolution strategies, and in any emergent crisis situation. Counselors are a vital part of any school team, working closely with students, teachers and administration. At Eagle Valley Middle, our vision includes “…educating students to achieve academic, emotional, social and physical excellence.” We cannot fully achieve this vision without the help of a school counselor.
Thank you to everyone who has made, and continues to make, donations to EFEC. No matter how large or how small the donation, your money goes directly to helping kids where it is most needed. Our motto is “We Believe!” We believe in ourselves, in our school and in our community. Clearly, our community also believes in us! Thank you for that.
Katie Jarnot, principal, and Harry McQueeny, assistant principal
