Vail Daily letter: Vote for Hammon
June 17, 2014
Pat Hammon has my support in the June 24 primary election because Pat stands head and shoulders above her opponent for your next county commissioner. Pat’s track record of working with many different public service organizations means Pat’s track record of public service is a standout.
Pat Hammon is out working in our community every day to make it better. During the past Board of Commissioners meetings concerning recreational marijuana, Pat’s opponent — the current chairman of our public school board — voiced no written or public comments to protect the safety of our children as did Dr. Glass, our school superintendent.
Hammon is the Eagle County veterans service officer and fights for the Veterans Administration rights of the over 2,100 military veterans in the valley. She chaired the Freedom Park Memorial — EMS, 911, and veterans in Edwards and it stands today because of her efforts — you may have seen her there on Memorial Day and Veterans Day making these events happen for the last 13 years.
Pat has over 13 years of experience on the Eagle County Planning Commission and negotiated those land development battles for the good of all residents while always considering all the facts. I have seen Pat in action at Board of Commissioners and Planning Commission meetings and she is ready to move on to more responsibility in our community serving as our new Eagle County commissioner.
It would take any opponent of Pat’s months of study to equal Hammon’s experience level at county government. Pat Hammon will be ready on Day 1 — to make the challenging decisions to help run our county government.
Residents should look for Pat Hammon in the Vail Fourth of July Parade and thank her for her combat triage nursing experience in Vietnam as she has for 10 years proudly carried the POW flag for the Minturn VFW Post. Healthcare in Eagle County will continue to grow as an important issue in the years ahead and Pat also has the nursing experience to lead in this area.
Please do not miss this opportunity to vote for Pat Hammon in the Tuesday, June 24 primary election.
