Avalanche education

As locals that are involved in skiing/riding and working in avalanche terrain, we are concerned about the shortage of avalanche education in Eagle County. We understand that avalanche classes are costly and time consuming. As American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education instructors, we have teamed up with Paragon Guides to offer a subsidized and time sensitive level 1 class.

Because the shortfall in avalanche classes also concerns local businesses, a number of Eagle County businesses have offered to sponsor locals to help pay for class. Locals can apply for sponsorships by writing a short essay about why they should win financial support.

Class is Feb. 25 and 27 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. and all day March 1-2.

Essays can be sent to trips@paragonguides.com. To register for class or more information, please call Paragon Guides at 970-926-5299.
