Starting Hearts lands office, training center

VAIL — Starting Hearts has acquired a new office space and training center at the Avon Center in Avon. This is the first training center for the local nonprofit that educates the public on sudden cardiac arrest.

“Starting Hearts is on a mission to save more lives, and the acquisition of this centralized training center is getting us one step closer to this very important goal,” said Alan Himelfarb, executive director of Starting Hearts. “The organization is rapidly expanding and the time has come to organize operations under one roof. We couldn’t be happier to have our own home.”

Starting Hearts will now have its own venue to provide free cardiopulmonary resuscitation trainings and education programs to children and adults. Programs include Call, Push, Shock classes and monthly American Heart Association CPR certification courses. The space will also be used as Eagle County’s sudden cardiac arrest centralized support center and a community gathering spot for Starting Hearts’ events.

The Vail Valley Foundation helped Starting Hearts acquire this new home, but the organization needs $50,000 to cover the purchase price, remodel and furniture for its new office, Himelfarb said. To raise funds, Starting Hearts has launched its 1,000 Points of Life Capital Raise Campaign.

“Please help us reach this very important fundraising goal during a crucial time in Starting Hearts’ exciting development,” Himelfarb said. “Your donation will help cover expenses and future CPR training programs for the community.”
