Vail Daily letter: Great organization

I would like to thank the Eagle River Youth Coalition for the impact they make on the youth of Eagle County.

I am a member of their Youth Leaders Council and the experience has been invaluable. ERYC tackles substance prevention/use, wellness/mental health promotion and academic achievement. They target issues specifically facing youth in our county, because as a 17-year-old I can tell you that we face unique challenges growing up in a Colorado resort community. Through the Healthy Kids Colorado survey, ERYC can focus on specific prevention efforts and create widespread and productive change throughout our community.

I feel very fortunate to be able to grow up here. We truly have the support of so many people and are equipped with more confidence and information to be launched into the world, whether we decide to leave or stay. Many people contribute to this community, so we see amazing role models every day. We learn the importance of not only giving back to our communities, but how working together with other organizations can be that much more impactful. We have adults who really want to see us succeed and reach our full potential. Adults who have our back. Adults we can trust.

ERYC works with our schools. At Eagle Valley High, they work specifically with our DADD program (Devils Against Destructive Decisions). With 150 volunteers, they reach over 3,500 youth and families. This ripple effect benefits all of us. There are many ways to volunteer. ERYC also exists on contributions. Please consider being a financial contributor to this great organization. Thank you, ERYC!
