I recently read the recent article about the Haymeadow development slated for the countryside south of Eagle. I would have laughed if it weren’t so tragic. Calling Haymeadow a “conservation-oriented development” is mind numbing. By definition, development is the exact opposite of conservation!
This is almost as bad as the Jouflas family claiming they care so much about their land at Wolcott that they just had to doze it over and litter it with houses, stores and parking lots.
The amazing part is the lack of outcry over Haymeadow. This valley is saturated with 20- and 30-somethings that cry themselves to sleep every night thinking about polar bears. You’d think they would be concerned with the deer, elk and other wildlife getting displaced by greedy developers. I don’t know how any sane person could look out over the land at Haymeadow and think “I’d just love to see this paved over.”
I guess exploiting the environment is OK on a local level, as long as the developer and town promise a new mountain bike trail in the area, especially one funded by taxpayers. Perhaps the town of Eagle needs some board members not tied to development.
