Police searching for man who fled on foot near Eagle following high speed chase

EAGLE — Police are searching for a man who fled on foot when he crashed his car following a high-speed police chase Thursday night.

The suspect, who remains unidentified, is a white male in his mid-20s with what appears to be short red hair, said the Colorado State Patrol.

Just west of Eagle, the suspect was clocked driving his 1992 Jeep Cherokee at more than 100 mph by a Colorado State Patrol trooper.

Police put down stop strips designed to blow his tires and he drove over them, the State Patrol said.

The suspect pulled off in Eagle and headed north through the construction zone and up Eby Creek Road. About a mile up the road he pulled into the Eby Creek Mesa subdivision and his car careened off the left side of the street and into a ditch.

He fled on foot with police chasing him. He managed to dodge police as they rolled in with search dogs.

The search was continuing at press time.
