3 don’t-miss events happening Labor Day weekend in Vail

Another summer holiday means another month closer to Vail's Opening Day of the 2018-19 ski season.
With a busy summer schedule filled with live music, dance, jazz, adventure games and more, Labor Day weekend is no exception. Here's a look at three must-see events happening in Vail during Labor Day weekend.
Vail Jazz Party
The five-day grand finale of the Vail Jazz Festival over Labor Day weekend features a jam-packed lineup of musicians — in total 35 — joining together for group performances, multi-artist jam sessions and inspiring multimedia tributes to jazz legends.
Taking place Aug. 30 to Sept. 3, and featuring more than 35 hours of jazz music, the Vail Jazz Party has something for everyone all weekend long.
Catch the Vail Jazz All-Stars on opening night at the Jazz Tent at Vail Square, featuring a dozen of America's most gifted young jazz musicians hand-picked for the festival.

Friday features a full day of music, including Westside Story and More: Bill Cunliffes's Tribute to Leonard Bernstein at 8:10 p.m. in the Vail Marriott.
Niki Haris and company perform at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday in Vail Marriott. On Sunday, she performs at 9 a.m. for her Gospel Prayer Meetin'.
Things wrap up Monday with a bang at the Jazz Tent at Vail Square from 1:30 to 5 p.m.
The Vail Jazz Party features a House Band with John Clayton, Terell Stafford, Wycliffe Gordon, Bill Cunliffe and Lewis Nash.
Performance take place at the Vail Jazz Tent in Vail's Lionshead Village as well as Vail Marriott Mountain Resort in Lionshead.
Tickets are $55-$75 for individual performances; $375 for a Performance Pass that offers early access to all performances; and $450 for a Patron Pass that adds invitations to an opening night reception and dinner with the musicians.

Gourmet on Gore
A Labor Day weekend staple in Vail, Gourmet on Gore presents open-air tastings as well as outdoor activities paired with culinary experiences, such as mountain biking and yoga.
From Aug. 31 through Sept. 3, Gourmet on Gore will feature world-class wine, beer and spirits paired with culinary creations from local chefs, a great way to find a new restaurant to try or reaffirm your prior commitments.
Festival highlights include a tasting tour on Friday, open-air tastings Saturday and Sunday as well as Gourmet Let's Go events.
Whether you're looking to stroll the streets of Vail nibbling on local creations or taking it to the mountain for foodie adventures, Gourmet on Gore has something every day of Labor Day weekend.
The open-air tastings are free to attend, with a pay-as-you-go format. Some events are free to attend, while a few are ticketed.

Vail Rotary Duck Race
Each Sunday of Labor Day weekend, the Vail Rotary Club hosts its largest fundraising event of the year: the Duck Race.
Thousands of yellow rubber ducks will race down Gore Creek in the heart of Vail, with a chance at winning cool prizes, including a cool $1 million.
You can adopt your duck and send it down the creek, or line the bridge at the finish line.
