AVON — The Avon Performance Pavilion at Harry A. Nottingham Park will be the gathering spot on Wednesday evenings in August, with free live music, beer, spirits and food served from an eclectic collection of food trucks and trailers.
The second year of Avon Live! Summer Concerts in the Park begins today with the Freddy Jones Band and New Orleans guitar wiz Colin Lake and continues Aug. 17 with San Diego-based Latin group Todo Mundo and local band Renegade Sons.
The Aug. 24 concert brings The Samples with New Orleans favorite Big Sam’s Funky Nation to the stage, and the four-week series closes Aug. 31 with Grammy winners Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle.
Gates open at 5 p.m. each week, with a Kids Zone featuring a gigantic bouncy castle, face painting and the Cave of Confusion, a 3-D interactive maze for kids to crawl and explore. The live music runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
While attendance at Avon Live! is free to the public, organizers are offering a VIP experience for $20, which includes a meet and greet with the artist, autographed band merchandise, a $10 VIP food and beverage voucher and preferred viewing area.
