Best Craft Beer Selection (Restaurant/Bar) — Best of Vail Valley 2019
1. Vail Brewing Company
2. Bonfire Brewing
There are plenty of places in the Vail Valley where you can enjoy craft beer. But when you truly want a wide selection, go straight to the source. At any given time, Vail Brewing Company offers up 12-16 taps of its craft beer goodness, almost guaranteeing that each guest will find something to please their palate.
“When we started (VBC), the focus was to kind of create a beer for everyone,” said Garrett Scahill, co-owner and head brewer at VBC.
In addition to VBC’s core beers (Hot Mess Blonde, Pete’s Stash Pale Ale and Gore Creek IPA, to name a few), the lineup usually includes a sour, a hazy IPA, a darker beer like a stout or porter and a lighter option, like a kolsch or pilsner. But Scahill said that it’s the other options where the brewers get to be innovative and creative. Maybe it’s a beer-wine hybrid, or the soon-to-be released Gourd Range, which includes roasted pumpkins and pumpkin puree in the recipe. VBC is also collaborating with different breweries around the country, which results in recipes like a French toast stout.
“I mean, there’s so many different varieties that you can make that, you know, we don’t want to limit ourselves,” Scahill said. “I would say that pretty much every other batch, every other brew day is a core beer. And every (day) in between is something new and exciting.”
