1. EagleVail Golf Club

2. Red Sky Ranch And Golf Club

3. Vail Golf Club

favorite by tourists and locals alike, EagleVail really does embody mountain golf. Bookended by par-5s that start with elevated tee boxes, the course is a rollercoaster ride with the Eagle River, Stone Creek or forest serving as obstacles.

In addition to shots off precipices on the opening and closing holes, EagleVail’s Nos. 9 and 10 can also be called signature holes. Up in the forest, No. 9 is is a 452-yard par-4 from the regular white tees. It requires a blind tee shot with an equally challenging approach to a green guarded by two bunkers to the right. No. 10 is a dizzying dropping par-3, where clubbing down is strongly encouraged.

After making the turn, the course finishes in an aspen grove, where two short par-4s playing to elevated greens guarded by water (Nos. 15 and 16) will probably make or break your round. Bring your camera and a lot of extra balls.

EagleVail is open from May to October, weather depending, and its 19th hole is Mulligan’s, a great place to talk over your tragedies and triumphs on the links.
