Best Local Brewery — Best of Vail Valley 2019
1. Vail Brewing Company
2. Bonfire Brewing
3. Gore Range Brewery
Over the past five years, Vail Brewing Company has firmly cemented its reputation in the Vail Valley for the quality and diversity of its beer. And, with two locations, it’s easy to satisfy your craving for a Hot Mess Blonde or Tourist Trap DIPA whenever you feel the urge. But there’s more to this beer than clever names.
“Over time, we figured out the products we like: the hops we like, where the malt’s coming from, certain companies (we like),” said Garrett Scahill, co-owner and head brewer at VBC. “That’s been one thing that’s helped improve our beer.”
Scahill said that there are a lot of different elements that go into making great beer but it really comes down to figuring out systems, finding the best ingredients and continuing to tweak and improve recipes.
“It’s keeping it fresh and innovative,” Scahill said. “We’re constantly trying to think about new ways and new beers, whether it’s a new style or within styles, how to tweak them and make them our own or make them slightly more original if we can. I think just keeping it fresh is super important.”
