Best Local Music Venue — Best of Vail Valley 2019
1. Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater
2. Bonfire Block Party
3. Shakedown Bar
It’s almost a spiritual experience — listening the New York Philharmonic or Steve Miller, being enthralled by the acrobatics of modern dancers or your 8-year-old niece’s dance school performance. The Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, operated by the Vail Valley Foundation, is like almost no other place. It’s a place where kids can twirl to pop music and grandparents can cultivate the next generation of cultural aficionados, all under twinkling stars and with a backdrop of flowers and mountains. Thanks to the beefed-up lineup at GRFA, nary a night all summer long needs to be without music or dance.
“The Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater is a special place: It’s where the best of what humanity has to offer comes together with the best of what nature has to offer,” said Tommy Boyd, who took over as director of the amphitheater in 2019. “It takes hundreds of volunteers, part-time, and full-time staff to achieve this world-class level of production and service. Behind the scenes, a surprisingly small number of people are performing small miracles to ensure our facility is among the best in the land – if you see or know someone who works with us, be sure to thank them.”
Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
