Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Eagle

EAGLE — The annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration returns Sunday from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Eagle River Center. Featuring traditional food, live music, dancing, a bar, an inflatable kids zone, Chihuahua races and more, the Cinco de Mayo Celebration is the perfect family outing this Sunday.

The Cinco de Mayo Celebration kicks off at 1 p.m. with Chihuahua (or small dog; 15 pounds or less) racing presented by Holy Cross Energy. Owners can register their Chihuahua online at http://www.cincodemayoeagle.com or at the event on Sunday from 1 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Participants should arrive at the Eagle River Center by 1 p.m. on Sunday. Registration is $5 per dog and a portion of the proceeds go to the Eagle Valley Humane Society. The owners of the racing dogs can will receive $5 off their entry if they want to stay and enjoy the Cinco de Mayo festivities with live music and entertainment.

Live music starts at 1 p.m. with four traditional bands — Herencia del Pueblo, La Fiebre del Sabor, Idolos del la Musica and headliner Banda Lamento Show. Throughout the music, attendees can enjoy an inflatable kids zone with two bounce houses, a giant inflatable slide and face painting. Food and retail vendors will be on site from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. as well.

Entrance fee is $15 for adults 13 and older; 12 and younger are free and only cash is accepted at the door. Visit the website at http://www.cincodemayo eagle.com for additional event details including Chihuahua Race registration.
