Cordillera’s Sounds of Summer continues with Hazel Miller Band

The city of Denver named Hazel Miller one of the 150 people who make Denver a better place to live in 2008. The singer performs Wednesday, Aug. 15, as part of the Cordillera Sounds of Summer free concert series.

EDWARDS — Cordillera’s Sounds of Summer concert series continues Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Bearcat Stables with the award-winning Hazel Miller Band. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

The Hazel Miller Band performs an eclectic blend of Jazz, R&B, blues and original music with Miller’s voice charging songs with a primal dose of genuine soul.

“Hazel’s played in the valley for years. It will be great to have her back performing for the Vail Valley in one of its most intimate locations, Cordillera’s Bearcat Stables,” said Rachel Oys, general manager of Cordillera. “The concert is going to be an amazing evening of entertainment and will have everyone up and dancing.”



Life of Music

Miller began her 38-year career in Louisville, Kentucky, where she rose to the top of the music scene. She opened for popular artists such as Mel Torme, James Brown, Temptations, Earl Klugh, Bob James and many others.

Since moving to Colorado, she has regularly performed with Big Head Todd and the Monsters and has been a frequented the ETown Radio Show, aired on NPR. She has performed at all the major jazz and music festivals throughout Colorado while maintaining a working band, which won the Westword Readers Poll Best Blues/R&B band for three consecutive years.

The city of Denver singled out Hazel as one of 150 people who make Denver a better place to live. She has received several awards for artistic excellence: Best Independent Blues-R&B Recording- 2002; Outstanding Performer at Red Rocks Amphitheater.
