VAIL — Gourmet on Gore returns to Vail Village for its 11th year today. The annual open-air culinary and beverage festival takes place along Vail's Gore Creek Drive and Willow Bridge Road through Monday, showcasing Vail Valley restaurants, as well as wines, spirits and beers from around the world.

The event begins with the Gourmet on Gore Tasting Tour benefiting the Vail Veterans Program from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. The evening comprises a progressive Tasting Tour pairing culinary talent from Vail restaurants with retailers and galleries, allowing participants to preview a wide range of tastes and beverages.

The culinary weekend continues with the three-day Open-Air Tasting. Featuring wine, beer and spirits paired with special creations from Vail Valley restaurants, the Open-Air Tastings take place on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Brunch Off Bridge Street closes the weekend on Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no cost for admission to Gourmet on Gore's Open-Air Tasting, and the event is open to the public.

'One of the elite culinary events of the year'

"Gourmet on Gore has grown to be one of the elite culinary events of the year in the Vail Village," said Matt Morgan, owner of Sweet Basil and Mountain Standard in Vail. "We have been involved from early on in the event's history, and have watched it blossom to a 'don't miss' festival. Years ago, the summer season kind of fizzled to a close, but since the arrival of Gourmet on Gore, we now have a very exciting weekend to help celebrate and finish the beautiful summer season in our valley."

In addition to the Tasting Tour and Open-Air Tasting, guests can salute the sun and the weekend on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. with Summertime Community Yoga, presented by Vail Vitality Center, on the lawn at Solaris in Vail Village. The event is free; bring a mat, water and sunscreen.
