Get your ducks in a row: Annual Vail Rotary Duck Race returns Labor Day weekend

The Vail Rotary Club will hold its annual Duck Race during Labor Day weekend on Sunday, Sept. 2.

The Duck Race is the No. 1 fundraiser for Vail Rotary and benefits local nonprofits that participate in the adoption of ducks as well as local and international projects supported by the club.

The annual race takes place on Gore Creek in Vail with duck "adoptions" happening now up until race day. Prizes vary and there's a chance to win a million dollars.

Adopt a rubber duck to join the race at http://www.vailduckrace.com. Cost is $10 to adopt one duck; $20 to adopt three; $30 for five; $50 for nine; and $100 for a platinum fleet of 20 ducks.

Designer Duck Challenge

As part of the race, the Designer Duck Challenge will again be part of the 20th annual Vail Rotary Duck Race.

Categories for judging include president's choice; feathered best; and people's choice award.

Last year's winner of the president's choice was The Kind Bike Shop for its duck named "Time Flies."

The Designer Duck Challenge is a team building competition and gives businesses and other organizations a creative way to participate in the Duck Race. The cost to participate in the Designer Duck Challenge is $100, with all of the proceeds supporting the Vail Rotary Club.
