VAIL — Women’s History Month will express its glamorous side on Friday, March 24, when the annual Girl PowHER fashion show gets under way from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Vail Marriot Mountain Resort in Lionshead Village.
This year’s apres-ski event will include gourmet appetizers and cocktails with a look at high-end fashions for men and women in styles from local shops Garbarini, Gorsuch, Grey Salt and Perch, all on a runway inspired by New York Fashion Week. Patrons will also have the exclusive opportunity to shop the looks at pop-up shops.
“This is always one of our most fun and engaging events of the year,” said Amanda Precourt, who presents the event along with the Vail Valley Foundation’s YouthPower365. “The men and women all look lovely, the clothes are incredible, and everyone has a good time raising funds for one of the most popular programs in our valley: Girl PowHER.”
YouthPower365’s Girl PowHER program also has something new to celebrate this year: expansion into Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy, Vail Mountain School and Red Canyon High School.
“This is one of our most successful programs,” said Melisa Rewold-Thuon, executive director of YouthPower365. “The young women in our program can come together and focus on age-appropriate issues such as stress management, self-esteem, relationships, networking, career preparation and scholarship guidance, while providing a safe environment for girls to share and receive support.”
The event will include music by DJ Ramona and will be followed by an after-party at The Remedy at Four Seasons Resort Vail.
The Vail Valley Foundation’s YouthPower365, formerly known as The Youth Foundation, has a vision to allow every child in Eagle County access to academic improvement. The organization elevates educational experiences in Eagle County by providing artistic, athletic and academic opportunities that empower children, families and teachers in the Vail Valley. YouthPower365 provides more than 4,200 local children with early childhood, kindergarten through 12th grade and scholarship programs that aspire to create success for every child.
