On Saturday, May 13, Vail Valley Medical Center is partnering with The Steadman Clinic and Eagle County Paramedic Services to offer free high school physicals, which are mandatory for participation in sports. In the past, 250-300 students have been screened for vision, heart, blood pressure and pulse, as well as general health. Incoming freshmen receive baseline testing for concussions. The free physicals will be at Eagle Valley High School in Gypsum on Saturday. From 8 to 9 a.m. will be incoming freshmen girls; from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. will be incoming freshmen boys (freshmen will also receive an EKG test, looking at the electrical activity of the heart); from 10:30 a.m. to noon will be incoming 10th-, 11th- and 12th-grade girls; and from noon to 1:30 p.m. will be incoming 10th-, 11th- and 12-th grade boys.
