Editor’s note: Eagle County, just like the rest of the nation, has seen dramatic changes in lifestyle and history. But one element of life here has stayed relatively stable since the mid-19th century: ranching.
Ranching is still a way of life for many in Colorado. The industry attracted settlers to the Rocky Mountains a century and a half ago, and there are still many working ranches in the area today. This photo essay documents a day in the life of one Eagle County rancher, Julie Hansmire Campbell.
