BEAVER CREEK — The world-renowned Popovich Comedy Pet Theater will arrive at the Vilar Performing Arts Center tonight at 6:30 p.m. This family-oriented circus show blends the comedy juggling skills of Gregory Popovich and the talents of his furry costars.
The show boasts more than 30 pet performers rescued from animal shelters across the United States, including 12 cats, 10 dogs, two geese, two doves, one parrot and a few mice. New additions to the show include a goat duo, Kurt and Helgo, and special guest star Mr. Diamond, a miniature horse.
Made for the circus
Beginning as a member of the Moscow Circus group at the age of 17, Popovich toured the world and competed in prestigious circus competitions as a juggler in Paris, Brussels and Monte Carlo. He was eventually hired to perform in America with Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. Two years later, he began performing in Las Vegas and on tour with a wide variety of animals in the Comedy Pet Theater, which has since been named the “Best Family Attraction in Las Vegas.”
Popovich has shared his expertise in raising, training and living harmoniously with pets in two books — “You CAN Train Your Cat” and “Doggy Gone Good.”
Popovich has also produced and starred in the feature film “Popovich and the Voice of the Fabled American West,” which has already won several awards, including the Audience Choice Award at the Dances With Films Festival in Los Angeles and the International Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Popovich also has been voted Entertainer of the Year in Las Vegas, where he resides and performs throughout the year.
