EAGLE COUNTY — Longtime locals will recall the days when The Samples — once a fledgling group from Boulder — became renowned in early '90s by playing free concerts in the Vail area. They soon blossomed to one of the biggest acts in Colorado history, and now they're back as part of an all-time best lineup for the Crazy Mountain Brewery Co. Hot Summer Nights free summer concert series all summer long at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater.

Free summer concerts don't stop there. Just down the way in Eagle, the Bonfire Brewing ShowDown Town lineup is also making a big splash with up-and-coming acts such as Satsang, The Broadcast and Interstellar Boys as the Vail Valley Foundation announced the lineup for both of their free summer concert series' on Thursday.

"The Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and we wanted to show our appreciation for all the amazing community support we've received through the years by taking it up a notch with this year's lineup," said the Vail Valley Foundation's Jen Mason, director of the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. "We figured why not bookend it with best-ever concerts in Eagle, too? So we are really pleased with the talent we've booked for this year's free concerts."

The Vail Valley Foundation has been hosting free concerts in the Vail Valley for 30 years as part of their mission to enhance and sustain the quality of life in the Vail Valley by providing leadership in the arts, athletics and education.

Notable Acts

Along with the return of The Samples, highlights of the free concert series include Donavon Frankenreiter, who is well known for collaborations with Jack Johnson and G. Love and hits like "It Don't Matter," "Free" and "Make You Mine," and the return of JoJo's Slim Wednesday featuring JoJo Herman, of Widespread Panic fame. Downvalley, the series will also include new band Satsang, the wide-ranging talents of Talia Keys and former contributors to Widespread Panic in the form of the Interstellar Boys, a concert presented by Moe's Original Bar B Que.
