Scotty McCreery will headline Gypsum Daze 2019
Popular summer celebration returns July 19-20
GYPSUM — Timing is everything and this year, it’s on Gypsum’s side.
Since winning “American Idol” back in 2011, McCreery has released four albums. His latest effort, “Season’s Change,” was released in 2018 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. It has spawned no. 1 hits “Five More Minutes” and “This is It,” the latter holding the No. 1 spot for two consecutive weeks. His latest single is titled “In Between” and it was recently released to country radio stations nationwide.
According to his website, McCreery says “In Between” is about balance.
“Everyone’s not all one thing or all the other. We all have many facets to our lives. It’s about knowing who you are and finding the balance that’s right for you,” he said.
But having some hit singles and a successful album is only one of the highlights the past year has brought for McCreery. As his website notes, McCreery married his longtime love Gabi in June 2018. Their engagement and wedding ultimately inspiring his latest No. 1 hit “This Is It” and footage from their wedding day was showcased in the song’s music video. That video has been viewed more than 40 million times and landed in the No. 1 spot on “CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown.”
How did Gypsum get so lucky to nab McCreery at such a pivotal period? Luck is the operative word. Gypsum Town Manager Jeremy Rietmann said the town has a budget for talent and with that parameter in mind, looks at touring options. McCreery was the most popular option among Gypsum staff members.

“The thing is, Gypsum Daze is a country music concert,” Rietmann said. “But we have had some discussion that as our community has changed over time, we may bring in some different musical styles.”
