Starship, John McEuen and more to bring holiday cheer to Vilar Center in December

BEAVER CREEK — The Vilar Performing Arts Center has announced the lineup of its Winter Holiday Series, featuring performances by Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, John McEuen and Friends as well as the return of the holiday classic Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol."

HOLIDAY SERIES LINEUP

What: Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol."

When: Saturday, Dec. 23. 3:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Cost: $65 adult/$35 child.

More information: Mickey Thomas is the owner of the soaring voice that propelled Starship through the decades of the '80s and '90s. With his soulful and compelling vocals, Thomas has established himself as one of Rock Music's most recognizable stars.

He made his mark in 1976 as lead vocalist on the mega-hit "Fooled around and Fell in Love" with The Elvin Bishop Band. In 1979, he joined the Jefferson Starship as lead vocalist, and has since helped every album released by the band go gold, platinum or multi-platinum. His vocals still entertain crowds around the country playing timeless pieces from "We Built This City," "Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now" and "Sara" to name a few.

What: Neil Berg's "100 Years of Broadway."

When: Wednesday, Dec. 27, 3 p.m.

Cost: Starting at $78/$38 child.

More information: Neil Berg's widely acclaimed "100 Years of Broadway," a musical revue of Broadway's most celebrated shows, features a dazzling cast of five Broadway stars accompanied by an all-star New York band. "100 Years of Broadway" recreates the greatest moments from the finest shows of the century featuring the actual stars of shows such as "The Phantom of the Opera," "Les Miserables," "CATS," "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Jekyll & Hyde."

What: John McEuen and Friends present "Will the Circle Be Unbroken."

More information: John McEuen brings with him 45-plus years of worldwide performing with his banjo, fiddle, guitar and mandolin. Often referred to as the "String Wizard," he weaves stories of his travels and family life (he has raised seven kids), taking us through where his musical path has taken him.

A founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1966, McEuen instigated the 1972 classic "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" album, (inducted into the Library of Congress as one of America's most important recordings). He has earned Emmy nominations, Grammy Awards, CMA acclaim, The Western Heritage Award and many other accolades.

When: Saturday, Dec. 30, 6:30 p.m.
