VAIL — Sunshine Massage Studio, located in Concert Hall Plaza in Lionshead Village next to the Ski Valet and below Moe’s Original Bar B Que, is still offering bodywork therapies with Thai massage techniques, assisted stretching and anti-gravity support, but Samantha Sunshine has spread out a little to begin her second year of business.

“It has doubled in square footage,” she said. “It used to be 100 square feet, and now it’s 200.”

The space is still quaint, but now there’s a separate area for clients to check in and sip on a cup of tea or experience a complimentary foot soak before going into the other room on a large heated mat for their sessions. The studio is a 2-minute walk from the ski area base, so it’s easy to stroll right over after a day on the hill.

“I definitely wanted to create a more spacious experience,” Sunshine said. “So now people can come in and have a place to change and put their things.”

Sunshine creates treatments to cater specifically to every individual. Anyone who weighs less than 185 pounds can try acro-massage with Sunshine, and for those who weigh more than 185 pounds, the studio’s yoga swing can be used for inversion therapies.

“Being that we are up in the mountains and we have high-impact sports on top of gravity, it’s super important that we start with taking the effects of gravity off of your body,” she said on the benefits of inversion therapy.

Sunshine said she is also adding more of a focus on couples massage instruction and acro-yoga instruction.

Be sure to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to each session. For clients who do not, Sunshine has a range of sizes in comfortable clothing available to use. The expansion of the Sunshine Massage Studio also made room for Sunshine’s book on anti-gravity work and specialty self-care items, available exclusively to massage clients.

In 2016, the studio also was awarded the best massage in Vail by

“I am super honored to have that,” said Sunshine of the recognition. “I’ve really created a niche for myself in doing such different things.”
