TEDxYouth at Vail’s “Rise Up” event is taking place at Battle Mountain High School on Saturday, April 13, featuring student speakers talking about important topics impacting the community.
The TED talks are from 3:30 to 7:15 p.m. with an after-party from 7:20 to 9:15 p.m. where dinner will be available for purchase. Tickets are free for pre-registered students and general admission tickets are $10 online at tedxvail.com or $15 at the door.
TED talks are commonly known from speakers like Sir Ken Robinson, Amy Cuddy, Susan Cain and many more.
Students at Battle Mountain will be discussing topics including surviving cancer; mental health; effective methods of learning a new language; and more. Students have worked for months preparing their speeches and working hard to bring awareness about their chosen subjects.
Talks are meant to inspire, spread awareness and bring change to people who listen.

Session 1: 3:45-4:45 p.m.
Don’t Just Fly, Soar
These talks will encourage you to challenge your own perspectives and embrace the stories of everyone you meet.
These speakers embody compassion, acceptance and creativity, and urge all of us to do the same in our daily lives.Through their unique backgrounds and personalities, they’ll incite each of us to not only succeed at everything we do, but to join the people around us in “Rising Up” and soaring past our expectations.
Session 2: 6-7:15 p.m.
After overcoming limits imposed upon them by themselves and the rest of society, this session’s speakers exemplify what it means to discover your passion.
Through travel, coffee, language, technology and running, they’ll show you how possible it is to achieve anything you want in life and more. Whether it’s from journeying around the world or journeying into their own minds, these speakers are the epitome of broadening horizons — and surpassing them.
