EDWARDS — Tess Backhus returns to the Vail Valley for her premiere jewelry trunk show at Rocky Mountain Silver & Beads in The Riverwalk at Edwards on today and Thursday.
Backhus has moved down Main Street and said she is excited to have her designs in this new location after being well represented for more than 10 years by Asian Village, which closed its doors in August.
“Bringing together color, texture, culture and good energy in wearable art is exciting,” Backhus said. “Even more gratifying is meeting the person who is meant to have my pieces.”
Tess and Tom Backhus owned and operated 4 Eagle Ranch for 20 years. They moved to Paonia in the fall of 2014.
Tess Backhus said they love their life in the lower elevation, rural environment and milder climate, but always enjoy returning to see friends and clients they’ve known from more than 35 years of living in the valley.
Backhus has also slightly changed focus in her designs. Streamlining her collections of one-of-a-kind and limited-edition pieces, while leaning more toward garnering handmade, unique, primitive elements from diverse cultures, as well as integrating her love of more polished semi-precious stone and statement pearl designs. Through her designs, Backhus said she also expresses her respect and passion for nature, appreciation for cultural treasures and personal expression through color and adornment.
