With roots submerged in traditional bluegrass, The Lil Smokies have become a leading player in the progressive acoustic music scene. The quintet from Missoula, Montana, has been writing, touring and playing to an ever-growing fan base for the past six years.

Today, The Lil Smokies will perform under the tent outside The Arrabelle in Lionshead Village. The show is free, and music goes from 6 to 9 p.m.

The Lil Smokies continue to gain popularity and won the 2016 International Bluegrass Music Association Momentum Award for Best Band.

The band has shared the stage with heavyweights such as Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Keller Williams, Greensky Bluegrass, The Emmit-Nershi Band, among others.

Show Goes on Rain or Shine

The Vail Summer Bluegrass show is just one of many stops on The Lil Smokies tour, which includes stops in more than 10 states as well as a few shows in Canada.

The Vail Summer Bluegrass series is free to attend and is for all ages, rain or shine.

Did you know: The Lil Smokies got their name before taking the stage at one of their first gigs. The MC introducing them asked for their name, and when they said nothing, he looked around and saw a lil’ smoky — tiny hot dog — on a plate. “Now performing, The Lil Smokies.”
