GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” Police say alcohol was not a factor in a crash involving a dump truck and a sport utility vehicle that killed one person in Grand Junction.

Police spokeswoman Kate Porras says the dump truck driver was westbound on G Road at about 5:15 p.m. Thursday when he ran a stop sign and slammed into a Nissan SUV that was northbound on 23 Road.

Both vehicles rolled. Porras says one person died at the scene, but it wasn’t immediately clear in which vehicle the victim had been.

One person was taken by private vehicle to a hospital. The other was treated at the scene.

No names have been released.
