CRAIG — One man is dead and another has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following a physical altercation in the alley behind the Trav-O-Tel Motel early Thursday morning, according to a press release from the Craig Police Department.

At approximately 2:40 a.m., officers received a report that a man was down in the alley near the motel and that CPR was in progress. When officers arrived, they provided medical aid, including the use of a defibrillator.

The man, 36-year-old Raymond Terrill of Ozark, Missouri, was transported to The Memorial Hospital and was there pronounced dead.

Justin Blodgett, 26, of Grand Junction, was arrested on one charge of manslaughter and is being held at Moffat County Jail.

The two men were co-workers working on the Craig Station outage, and had been out to a couple different bars earlier in the evening, according to Commander Bill Leonard. They had also been involved in a disturbance at the Popular Bar that night to which officers responded, Leonard said.

Investigators from the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office and the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office are assisting the Craig Police Department with the investigation, which is ongoing.
