100-mph Front Range chase ends in crash
LONGMONT, Colorado ” Authorities say a driver trying to get away from a state trooper hit speeds of 100 miles per hour on Interstate 25 north of Denver Tuesday before crashing east of Longmont.
The State Patrol says two passengers in the Volkswagen Jetta have been arrested. It’s not yet clear if the driver is in custody.
The patrol says a trooper suffered minor injuries when a patrol car was hit by the Jetta during the pursuit.
Authorities say a trooper had tried to pull the Jetta over for a traffic violation when the driver sped away. The patrol says the Jetta raced north about five miles and got off I-25 at Colorado 119.
The crash occurred just east of the I-25 interchange.
