12 arrests for Grand Junction 911 caller

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” A 75-year-old man with an alleged penchant for phoning 911 dispatchers for no particular reason could face a felony charge.
Donald Brendlinger was booked into the Mesa County Jail Monday morning on charges of misdemeanor telephone harassment and retaliation against a witness or victim, a class-three felony.
The arrest was Brendlinger’s 12th this year for harassment involving phone calls to Grand Junction’s Regional Communications Center, according to an arrest affidavit.
“Hey, dispatch. You don’t know how much I hate your guts,” Brendlinger allegedly informed a dispatcher shortly after midnight Monday.
The call was recorded and the number returned to Brendlinger’s home, according to the affidavit.
“It appeared to me that Brendlinger had placed that call to dispatch with no legitimate purpose or conversation,” a sheriff’s deputy wrote in the affidavit.
Brendlinger told the deputy he had questions about gun laws ” the deputy told him he’d already heard the 911 recording.
Brendlinger explained he’s upset with dispatchers for “always getting him into legal trouble,” the affidavit said.
The affidavit said sheriff’s office records show Brendlinger has been arrested on harassment charges 11 times this year through Nov. 23 ” 911 dispatch was a victim or witness in all the cases.
Brendlinger was already on probation for harassing communication, according to the affidavit.
