GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” A woman traveling on a bus from California to New York was arrested this week after anti-drug cops allegedly found nearly 17 pounds of heroin in her suitcase at the Grand Junction Greyhound station.
The Western Colorado Drug Task Force said the heroin seized was worth about $2 million, and sheriff’s deputies believe it is the largest heroin bust in Mesa County, according to the task force.
Diana Severiano Bojorquez, 38, was being held in the Mesa County Detention Facility for investigation of being in possession of a controlled substance. Severiano also told detectives she was from Mexico, and federal immigration agents have placed a hold on her while they investigate whether she’s lawfully in the country.
Deputies were inspecting luggage on a bus on Wednesday that had pulled in for routine maintenance after arriving from Utah, the task force said. Deputies then saw that Severiano’s suitcase had several holes drilled into the side of it, and noticed a strong odor of epoxy and perfume permeating from her suitcase.
Severiano then allegedly gave the deputies permission to search her suitcase. The deputies found a false compartment inside with black-taped packages that they believed was heroin, officials said.
