2004 Belvedere Chardonnay – "Healdsburg Ranches" Sonoma County
The 2004 Belvedere Chardonnay “Healdsburg Ranches” is a lovely white wine from Sonoma County showcasing two of its valleys – the cool Russian River Valley and the warm Alexander Valley.
The final blend shows the rich melon, grapefruit, and crisp finish from the Russian River fruit and the pear, spice, and body from the Alexander fruit. The wine is aged in French and American oak barrels for seven months. Since only 20 percent of the barrels are new, only a rich toasty oak is imparted to the wine, not a big, smoky cover. This Chardonnay also has a nice touch of creamy lime and custard. Pair this wine with roast chicken, pasta with alfredo sauce, crab, and even steamed lobster. Like most good Chardonnays, just drink it on its own as well. For around $17 in the store, you can afford to serve this at a party with light appetizers of all types.
Belvedere is located in Healdsburg, on the Russian River in central Sonoma County. They own over 200 acres, most of which are farmed organically. Winemaker Troy McEnery has been at his position since 2003.
