2017 Senior Salute: This year’s Vail Valley high school graduates

Eagle Valley High School

Favorite school moment from any year: It’s not specific but I really enjoyed being a cheerleader. I think every Friday night getting to cheer was my favorite moment, especially when we got to lead the crowd and do really cool things.

Give a shout out: My parents for supporting me each and every year, my brother who seriously is my rock — thanks, Bubba. And of course, my best friends (and Tony) for the endless laughs and card games.

Summer plans: I plan on hanging out with my friends a lot, working on my crafting business, traveling some but also just relaxing by the pool.

Where are you headed this fall: Colorado Mountain College. I’m working toward a degree in business, education or writing.

If you’re staying, what are you happiest about keeping: I love the fall here; it’s so beautiful and getting to experience the seasons. I’m also really excited I’ll get to still watch some home football games (LOL).

In 10 years, you’ll be: Working toward owning my own business or working on a novel as a writer, maybe both. I’ll probably have a dog or two, also.

Favorite class ever: AP Lit. The rivalry was real, Mr. Knight.

Class you wish had been offered: I think a culinary class that was just about making different kinds of desserts and cakes would be cool.

Favorite school moment from any year: Last year, my friends and I went camping after the end of the year, and we used our old assignments as fire starters. Sorry, Mr. Knight, but those timed essays went up pretty quickly.

Give a shout out: Sean Strode, Jim Hall and Igor Stravinsky.

Summer plans: Working, going to music camps. (Jazzing it up)

Where are you headed this fall: University of North Texas

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most: It’s small and there aren’t very many people. And my friends.

In 10 years, you’ll be: Homeless. There are no jobs for music majors.

Favorite class ever: Duel-enrollment Comp (we only meet twice per week).

Class you wish had been offered: AP Music Theory.

Favorite school moment from any year: Being in the school play my sophomore year.

Summer plans: Working and traveling.

Where are you headed this fall: Colorado Mountain College.

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most: I’m not leaving.

If you’re staying, what are you happiest about keeping: My beautiful view I have from my house.

In 10 years, you’ll be: A registered nurse and traveling.

Favorite class ever: Technical math.

Class you wish had been offered: Jewelry-making class.

Favorite school moment from any year: Beating Aspen in the first round hockey playoff in double overtime.

Summer plans: Playing hockey, working and getting prepared for next year.

Where are you headed this fall: Going to Maine to do a PG year at Kents Hill Prep school.

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most: The mountains and the crisp, clean air.

Favorite class ever: Prostart.

Class you wish had been offered: I wish they offered Trap Class.

Favorite school moment from any year: Going on an AVID field trip to Denver, for college visits.

Give a shout out: To my family and friends.

Summer plans: Going to Mexico.

Where are you headed this fall: College.

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most: My family and some friends.

If you’re staying, what are you happiest about keeping: Staying close to my family.

In 10 years, you’ll be: Hopefully a lawyer.

Favorite class ever: Chemistry.

Class you wish had been offered: More language classes.

Sophia Walder

Vail Christian High School

Favorite school moment from any year: Senior retreat at Frontier Ranch.

Give a shout out: Shout out to my family, friends and cute dogs!

Summer plans: Travelling to Europe and working before leaving in the fall.

Where are you headed this fall: I am headed to spend my freshman year at the American University of Paris through the University of Southern California, where I will earn my degree.

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most: I will definitely miss the mountains and sunsets; I will also really miss my white lab, Lucy.

In 10 years, you’ll be: In 10 years, I hope to be living a happy and fulfilled life.

Favorite class ever: Psychology with Mr. Phelan.

Class you wish had been offered: Visual design.
