VAIL, Colorado ” More than 25 feet of snow has fallen on Colorado’s Vail Mountain this year. The 304 inches at Mid-Vail is 18 percent above the year-to-date average.

The mountain has gotten 18 inches of new snow in the past week.

The snowpack is still above the 30-year average for this time of year, the Eagle River Water and Sanitation District said Tuesday.

On Vail Mountain, the snowpack on Monday was about 18.1 inches of snow-water equivalent, the district said.

The 30-year average was about 15.5 inches. The measurement for Feb. 23 in the drought-stricken year of 2001-02 was about 12 inches.
