3 inches at Vail, Beaver Creek; more snow on the way?

National Weather ServiceSnow is in the forecast for the Vail Valley for most of the week.

VAIL, Colorado “-Vail and Beaver Creek mountains got a dose of snow Monday morning, but will storms forecast for today and the rest of the week cure local skiers’ need for fresh powder?

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall should increase this afternoon and tonight.

There is a 70 percent chance of up to three inches of snow falling tonight in the Vail area, the Weather Service says.

There is a 50 percent chance of snow on Tuesday, but the Weather Service predicts only about an inch of accumulation.

The snow should fizzle out by Tuesday night, but the Weather Service says a series of storms will bring more snow to the Vail area.
