3 Vail rec district seats open

VAIL, Colorado – Nominating petitions are currently available for candidates interested in running for one of three open seats on the five-member Vail Recreation District board of directors. The election will be held May 4.

Nominating petitions may be picked up from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday in the Vail rec district administration office, located at 700 South Frontage Road East, adjacent to the Ford Park softball fields.

Candidates will have until 5 p.m., Feb. 26 to return the nominating petitions. One valid signature from a registered Colorado voter is required for certification.



The board seats up for election are held by incumbents Joe Hanlon, Rick Sackbauer and Ken Wilson. All are eligible to run for re-election. The terms of the remaining board members, Michelle Hall and Jeff Wiles, run to May 2012.

• Be a resident, property owner or spouse of a property owner in the rec district

• Be an eligible voter in Colorado

April 5 is the last day to register for the election.

Mail-in voting requests are now being taken and the final day to request a mail-in ballot is April 27. The final day for walk-in mail in ballot requests is April 30.

Voters will cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 at the Vail Municipal Building, 75 South Frontage Road.
