400 show for All Stars

Those who made it to State Bridge’s opening weekend saw a ripping rainstorm turn into a clear and quiet Colorado afternoon, which, in turn, morphed into a thundering guitar show by the North Mississippi All Stars.

When it was all over, general manager Mark Maurer said the new management learned a few things and loved the capacity crowd of 400 that showed for Sunday night’s headliner.

“State Bridge is going to continue to evolve,” Maurer said. “The menu’s getting bigger as we add different food ideas. We want people to think of this as a good place to eat, too.”

Smaller crowds Friday and Saturday, Maurer said, were a reflection of Wolcott’s Friday Afternoon Club opener and Saturday’s poor weather.

Because of the remote location of the concert, the new owners expressed concern about the safety of those returning home after a show, whether or not they had been drinking. No major incidents were reported.

“Besides a few minor events, everyone was pretty well behaved,” Maurer added. “It was a great crowd.”
