Team USA’s start list for the Intermountain Health Freestyle International at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah is filled with names Vail area ski fans will recognize.

Five Ski and Snowboard Club Vail athletes will throw down on the Champion run Thursday, with qualification starting at 4:25 p.m. MST.

Fresh off her double gold Youth Olympic Games performance, Liz Lemley will lead the dominant U.S. women’s squad. She’ll be joined by Tess Johnson, who is currently ranked eighth in the overall moguls cup standings. The U.S. team currently occupies six of the top 10 slots.

On the men’s side, SSCV alumnus Dylan Walczyk leads a group of nine Americans. Joining him will be Nash Lucas, who finished 25th in his World Cup debut last weekend in Waterville, New Hampshire, and 15-year-old SSCV skier Porter Huff. Huff — who will make his first World Cup start on Thursday — teamed up with Lemley to win the mixed team dual moguls gold in South Korea on Jan. 26 and earned the silver medal in the men’s dual moguls the following day.

The event could see a significant historical storyline come to fruition as well: Canadian Mikael Kingsbury will try to pass Ingemar Stenmark for the most World Cup wins by any male athlete across FIS disciplines.

Outside Watch will carry both the qualification and the finals, which began at 9:30 p.m. MST.
