50 million use Denver International Airport in ’09
DENVER, Colorado – About 50.1 million passengers used Denver International Airport in 2009, marking the airport’s second-busiest year.
The number was 2.1 percent below the record 51.2 million travelers who passed through in 2008.
Traffic for December 2009 was about 1.7 percent below what it was in December 2008, at about 4 million passengers.
Denver Aviation Manager Kim Day says the traffic numbers for the year are what airport officials expected after a year of a sagging economy and declining air travel.
Airport officials said Thursday that there was also a 10.6 percent drop in cargo handled at the airport in 2009, compared with 2008.
