61-year-old cyclist killed in Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” A Grand Junction woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle while riding her bike.

The Colorado State Patrol says 61-year-old Susan Baker was westbound at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday when she turned into the path of a Geo Prizm that was also heading west.

Baker, who was wearing a helmet, was struck and thrown from the bike. She was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Geo driver was not hurt.

Troopers say excessive speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
