8.5 percent of Colorado voters cast early or mail ballots
DENVER, Colorado ” Nearly 8.5 percent of Colorado’s 3.2 million registered voters have already cast ballots for the Nov. 4 election by mail or at early-voting polling places.
The Colorado secretary of state’s office says nearly 249,000 mail-in ballots had arrived at county clerks’ offices by Monday, and nearly 21,000 people cast ballots at polling places Monday, the first day of early voting.
The secretary of state posts vote totals at http://www.govotecolorado.com. None of the votes have been counted, so the Web site doesn’t tell which candidates are leading, only how many people have voted.
Colorado is considered up for grabs in the presidential election, and its nine electoral votes could determine the outcome if the race is close.
