80,000 Coloradans seek tickets for Obama speech

DENVER, Colorado ” Some 80,000 Coloradans have requested tickets for Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention since ticket-distribution plans were announced Wednesday.

Campaign officials say the roughly 60,000 people who requested credentials by Thursday afternoon had already exceeded the number of tickets available to state residents. The 20,000 people requesting tickets since then have been added to a waiting list.

Democratic officials have said Coloradans will get roughly half of the more than 75,000 seats available for the final night of the Aug. 25-28 convention.

Obama spokesman Matt Chandler says that by Aug. 15, the campaign should be in touch with Coloradans granted tickets.
