EAGLE – The sounds in Eagle Town Park will be especially sweet tonight, as three-time Western Regional A Cappella champions 17th Avenue Allstars bring their vocal harmonies to theShowDown Town free concert series.The five-member group’s soulful renditions of popular music cover a wide variety of musical styles and span five decades of hits. In addition to their regional success, the Allstars captured top honors in 1993 as National A Cappella Champions at the Harmony Sweepstakes, the “Super Bowl” of a cappella competition.Comprised of Norm Silver, Jimi Alexander, Tony Huerta, Barry Brown and Tim Rosendo, the 17th Avenue Allstars have a warmth that they bring to their music that is very embracing, with wonderful arrangements and minimal but effective choreography.

The 2006 edition of the ShowDown Town series will feature a total of six free shows, running through July 13. All shows get unde rway at 6:30 p.m., with weekly children’s activities complementing the musical entertainment.The Showdown Town free concert series is a project of the Vail Valley Foundation, in conjunction with the town of Eagle and American National Bank.
