A doc’s Christmas poem
Twas the night cefore Christmas,And all through the valleyPeople were rushingThe last shopping rally.Someone’s blood pressure is up,Another’s cholesterol is too high,While visions of diet and exerciseDance fleetingly in their eyes.I know I should do something,But who has the time?Next month I’ll think about it,That’s the old line. The standards are lower,I’ve read that somewhere. If I weren’t so busyI’d probably care.A helmet for skiing,That’s what they say.Get me to wear one? That’ll be the day!Early to bed,More water to drink,So much to doI don’t know what to think. But on second thought …Christmas is upon us,New Year’s is coming.Perhaps by slowing down,I’ll have the time to go running. Our health doesn’t happen by accident,I’ve read that somewhere, too.If you really want to change,There is always something you can do.Like Harald & JoelAnd a little help from CNN,Motivation is the keyTo get out there and win.Make a decision for success,To give up is to lose.Be what you want to,It’s all in how you choose.Grab a friend for support,Two is better than one.Aim for the stars,Shoot for the sun.Make a healthy resolutionFor the New Year to come.Be good to your self.Be good to everyone.Open your heart to the spiritOf Christmas that’s here.I hope you carry it with youThroughout the new year.It is an honor and privilegeTo share my words with you.Keep your question coming.I’ll see what I can do!Have a merry ChristmasAnd a happy new year.Dr. Drew Werner of the Eagle Valley Medical Center writes a weekly column for the Daily.
