A doctor’s take on classic poem

Drew Werner

And all through the clinic

The phones were all ringing

Every call for a visit.

Some had a cough,

A cold, or the flu.

I was still healthy,

And hope so were you.

Take two aspirin

See me in the morning?

I really believe you need more

Than that warning!

Ready to quit smoking,

Exercise and lose weight?

Now is the time!

Today’s not too late!

Be safe on the slopes

With a helmet on your head.

Get outside and enjoy.

It’s better than staying in bed!

Feeling worn out

Or just a little blue?

Take charge and do something

Before it gets hold of you.

Drink plenty of fluids

Keep washing your hands.

Being active, staying healthy.

It’s all part of the plan.

Our health is no accident.

It’s a choice we must make.

So be well and be happy.

It is your opportunity to take!

Busy you say?

Nothing can be more true!

And I’m so honored

To be caring for you.

It’s not hard to get up

And go to work every day

When I have the privilege

To care for you, I say.

So, have a great New Year,

A wonderful 2004!

Send me your questions,

I’ll keep writing some more.

Please keep your questions coming in. The only bad question is the unanswered one. Also, remember that your health is your responsibility. Health is our greatest asset and it doesn’t happen by accident. If something doesn’t seem right, or questions are left unanswered don’t wait, call your doctor.
